Reflection:
Throughout this project I focused on different ways of framing a picture and composition of film. Since learning about all these different techniques of making film I have noticed them in movies I watch or just pictures I see. I think something I still need to work on and learn more about is how to edit a film, this is a skill that takes a lot of knowledge that I don’t necessarily have yet, but would like to. Overall learning these things about film has given me a new perspective on what you can do with it and what it can look like.
The biggest thing we had to think about while creating our space settlement was gravity. We incorporated the concepts of circular motion, torque, and centripetal force. We used torque to create circular motion and gravity. These things are very essential for any spacecraft that will be in space for more than a year. The center of gravity of center of mass is important so that the rotation of your spacecraft isn’t crooked. One other thing that was helpful was Newton’s 1st law. It helped us realize that once we were spinning we wouldn’t stop because there is no force to act upon it, therefore it will stay in motion. On Earth there is always gravity and air resistance but in space there wouldn’t be either of those things acting on our spacecraft.
I think that throughout this project my greatest strength was communication. My group and I had some issues working together along the way but I think that i did a good job at communicating my needs and ideas with them so that we were all on the same page. It was also an important skill in this project because we had to set up interviews, we did a good job making sure that we had an interview set up.
I think that through this project I could have worked more on refinement. Overall I am proud of our final product but I do think it could have used some refinement. If we had more time we could have done this but at the same time I think I could have been focused more on refining my ideas and the way that our space settlement would be crafted.
